Nespresso Citiz vs VertuoLine
In this article, I will explain the key differences between Nespresso machines: Nespresso Citiz vs VertuoLine.
When it comes to Nespresso coffee machines, you can choose from a variety of different appliances. Having my coffee prepared in various appliances, I realized I tend to put trust in older models that are proved to be handy and reliable, but with the ever-growing offer of new improved models coming with various extra features, I’ve become pretty interested in differences among all these models and series.
So, if you share my point of view and you have doubts when it comes to choosing your new coffee machine, you may be interested to read more about the conclusions I came to by comparing two Nespresso generations: Nespresso Citiz and Nespresso VertuoLine coffee makers. Read on and find out more about the advantages of each of them.
Citiz vs VertuoLine: Design and Appearance
Nespresso Citiz. Oldie but goldie, Nespresso Citiz is a model that has a smooth elegant design that won the Red Dot Design Award. It comes in black or chrome color which makes the appliance seem minimalistic yet absolutely charming, and this compact one-color solution makes it easily fit any type of surrounding area, including even the smallest kitchens and offices. It’s made of plastic, weighs a bit more than 7 pounds and its dimensions are 5.1 x 10.9 x 14.6 inches.
Nespresso VertuoLine. Weighing about 12 labels and being a less compact solution compared to Citiz (11.9 x 8.3 x 11.9 inches), VertuoLine represents a new Nespresso model with a modern appearance that powerfully combines parts in red, black or chrome color, making it seem more striking and dominant on your countertop.
Citiz vs VertuoLine: Capacity
Before we discuss the capacities, you should know that both appliances have a removable reservoir.
Now, if you’re willing to get a machine with a larger water reservoir, you may decide to buy Nespresso VertuoLine, since it has the capacity of 40 ounces while Nespresso Citiz can store 34 ounces.
When it comes to the used capsule container capacity, VertuoLine beats Citiz one more time since it can hold up to 13 used pods, while the used-capsule box of Nespresso Citiz can store 10 of them.
Citiz vs VertuoLine: Features and Technology
With no doubt, technology is the aspect that makes VertuoLine completely different when compared to all other Nespresso series of models, including Citiz.
What makes VertuoLine so special when it comes to technology it’s the fact that it uses the innovative centrifusion system that provides incredibly fast coffee spinning – the inserted coffee capsule can spin as fast as 7,000 times a minute, while simultaneously infusing the water. Using this system, VertuoLine lets all of the coffee bean aromas extract in the best possible way.
In contrast, Nespresso Citiz has the adjustable cup tray which lets you place all sizes of cups and glasses, and it comes with a built-in milk frother that can also provide you with cappuccino and latte. And to brew your coffee, this machine uses a 19-bar pump, which is more powerful compared to the regular 15-bar pump found in most of the other appliances but still, not as powerful as VertuoLine’s centrifusion.
In addition, VertuoLine seems like a better choice when it comes to heat up time, as well. While the heat up time for Nespresso Citiz is about 25 seconds, VertuoLine requires only 15 to 20 seconds, making the whole procedure faster from the start. Finally, speaking of cup size, both coffee makers use both large coffee pods (7.77 oz) as well as the smaller ones (1.35 oz).
Citiz vs VertuoLine: Which One Is Simpler To Use?
When it comes to simplicity of the use, Nespresso VertuoLine takes another victory – it is a one-button operated machine that uses the well-implemented barcode reading technology to recognize the type of the inserted pod (remember that both of the appliances use only Nespresso pods). This way, VertuoLine directly helps to brew the ideal cup of coffee, programming the optimal setting.
And speaking of programming, both of the appliances have the automatic turn-off system that activates after nine minutes of not using the appliance which practically makes both of the coffee machines simple, safe and reliable for use even if you forget to turn them off manually. In addition, in the case of Citiz, the nine-minute inactivity required before the automatic shut off can be extended to up to 30 minutes, depending on your preferences.
Summing Up: Which Nespresso Machine Makes A Better Choice?
If you are looking for a powerful espresso maker that will provide you with a large capacity water reservoir and used capsule container while at the same time using the innovative centrifusion technology, then you should probably go for VertuoLine. However, if you are searching for a more compact solution, and you are not worried about the time needed for your coffee to be made while at the same time you’d like to make a purchase on a budget, you may go for Nespresso Citiz, since not only is it a cheaper model but it also has a great tradition in providing a great-tasting coffee that you’ll definitely enjoy.
